"All Records of Hallyu, A New Beginning for Cultural Exchange"

The Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) Cultural Exchange Research Center (formerly the Research Team) is pleased to announce the launch of our newly enhanced "Hallyu Research Archive." Following the initial archive establishment in July 2024, we are now ready to present you with comprehensive archival materials in June 2025.

This archive provides access to our Research Center's annual genre-specific publication, the Hallyu White Paper; the Overseas Hallyu Survey, which examines Hallyu awareness, usage, and distribution trends among approximately 26,000 overseas Hallyu users across 28 countries; the Hallyu Correspondent Report, a monthly compilation of reports from overseas correspondents active in over 40 countries; the bimonthly webzine Hallyu Now; and the "AI-Powered Hallyu Big Data Dashboard."

A change in name brings a change in character. Since KOFICE's establishment in 2003, our Research Center operated under the name "Research Team" for nearly two decades, focusing primarily on overseas research and analysis of popular culture—much like how "Hallyu" typically highlights entertainment content such as dramas, broadcasting, and K-pop. However, following organizational restructuring in late 2024, we were renamed the Cultural Exchange Research Center, embracing the core concept of international cultural exchange. This expansion of our mandate now encompasses not only popular culture but also fine arts and traditional culture.

Moving forward, the Research Center will continue to comprehensively examine Hallyu's history and contemporary relevance while expanding our research scope to include international cultural exchange. In addition to existing digital files, we have digitized and uploaded approximately 17,000 pages of project materials dating back several decades.

Visitors will find it fascinating to discover the names of numerous individuals who have seriously studied Hallyu and contributed to forming its academic discourse over the years. Our English pages currently utilize AI-powered automatic translation. To move beyond simple content posting—like our Korean pages—and achieve sophisticated information retrieval that responds differently based on users' specific needs, further enhancement work will be required. We are committed to continuous improvement in this area as well.

We earnestly request your continued support and valuable feedback.
