Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday Dearest Stephen, In the Christian tradition, I believe that one does not say, “Good bye,” but “God be with you until we meet again” or “the -2- Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from the other.” So both of those are my prayers as you return to your native land to continue the struggle -3- for human rights there... We will, of course, pray for you... you have given us so much in the short years we’ve known you, and we gather courage and inspiration for our own (inside) -4- struggle in this country to create a more caring, just and peace-making society from you... we ask your prayers for us, dear Stephen, that we may become more daring and dedicated as you’ve demonstrated so beautifully thru your own life. As our Sunday bulletin said, we’ll surround you with 1,200,000 prayers -5- (The amount the Pres. Church hopes to raise for Korean mission work here and in Korea). Further, Charles and I pledge to care for you and your beloved Faye in the best ways we know how, during your separation, as our gift to you both, in gratitude to God for both of you and your strong lives among us... We will miss you greatly, but will keep in touch thru the spirit and letters! Much love, Charles & Nancy Lee Turck
